Same happened to me in PHX 2 months ago, albeit with the old NEXUS card. When I suggested it was issued by DHS and was one of their approved ID cards, they just shrugged. I was also compelled to show another form of ID. I wonder if they would have accepted a Puyallup Indian Tribe card, as it does feature prominently on their website.
