There is a similar topic in MR section called "MR or Vacation". It has some interesting answers.

Unless it's the concorde, I feel like I'm only wasting time sitting on a plane or in an airport. It's mind-numbingly borrrring to me.

Similarly, if I'm not somewhere for at least 1 week, I think it's a waste of money, time, and chance. The reason why I persuse FT is for good ticket deals, not for mileage runs. I like to go to new places and experience those place. Get a feel for how others live, and do the things they do for fun. You simply can't do that in less than 1 week, and certinly not on a day trip. To me, there's nothing worse than a trip composed of a hasty tourist-trap tour.
