I totally agree! Before takeoff it seems like there's dinging every five seconds and I'm not even exaggerating! Add that to the already annoying boarding music and tacky safety video and I'm ready to jump out of the aircraft!!! The window shade issue also drives me crazy. There was this kid behind me who kept opening his shade every five minutes to look outside when everyone else's was closed and it was like someone was shining a spot light. He was a young kid and I understand that he was excited to go to Hawaii but once you've seen one section of the open Pacific Ocean, you've seen it all. My philosophy is if somebody wants to sleep on a day flight bring eyeshades and let the rest of us keep the blinds open. On night flights its obviously not much of an issue.
