In KL's RTW you may fly MH/KL/W/AS/CM/CO/EK/FJ/KQ/MA/NF/NW/PH/SA/SB/TN/UL/UX which makes it more attractive in case you would need to fly from South America to Africa (SA and MH fly between these continents).

In markets where both are offered, fares are the same (CRWWJ30=CRTWSKY3, etc).

Passport to the world let's you backtrack. I'm not sure paid SkyTeam RTW does.

BTW, with Passport to the World you're limited to one crossing between Europe and Middle East/Africa. So if you go to Africa from Europe, you'll have to exit on MH/SA/EK to Area 1 or Asia. Do ST RTW users fare better in this regard?
