Well, I've done it a few times on other airlines and it's never failed. Yet.

I've used it when I needed a one-way fare to a fortress hub and it was MUCH cheaper (like several hundred dollars) to book a connecting flight beyond the hub and just get off after the first flight.

Here, you're probably talking about saving 20 or 30 bucks. Right? It feels good, but is it worth the (likely minimal) risk? Beats me.
