I do not understand the rush to use up miles. Once upon a time I got magazines but that was in the days that miles expire. If you keep them alive, you never know how they will build for a ticket. So instead of using your son's miles for mags, keep them alive and one day when he's grown that might be his airline of choice and then he will have a good base for a ticket.Things really changed when the airlines offerred a way for miles to remain active.
