We are toying with flying LH upstairs in 747 sleeper First FRA-Cape Town later this year. Now THAT will be great I am sure.
Bennies on LH narrow body aircraft seem to be a different story though.
Do be warned when flying LH within Europe as some above have mentioned.
A month or so back I wanted to fly to Istanbul from AMS and noticed FRA to IST was about 3½ hours each way. Points needed were 20K coach and 40K biz IIRC.
So clever brains here opts for Biz. Biggest waste of 20,000 miles I ever made.
Even on longer haul "Europe" flights like that EVERY seat on the plane is identical. They just move the curtain back and forth based on daily load.
Booze is free anyway on LH in coach, so no benefit there. I'd get Senator Lounge (nice!) access as a 1K, so no benefit there either.
On the FRA-DUS flight there were 5 or 6 FT'ers incl Kokonutz, ralkfkrippner, JSD and Lisa. They can verify there were FOURTEEN rows of 6 wide "Business Class" and only SEVEN rows of "coach". All seats identical. Weird.
