Forget about DLCrap!!!!!
DL will have your miles expire if you do not fly them in a 3 year period.
MaryAO: First welcome!
Any means of earning DL miles even once every 3 years will keep your DL accnt active. You do not have to fly. I suggest keeping it active. Even if you don't plan to fly DL you never know if irregular operations will have another carrier reroute you on Dl. If that happens you can usually earn miles on BOTH your original carrier and DL, but you may have to ask.
Now what can you do to get some DL miles into your account? You could send someone flowers. My personal favorite method is found at
www.idine.com. Free miles for dining at the right places. And lots of free miles as well. There are tons of ways to earn miles without flying. DL has a page devoted to it found at:
https://www.delta.com/skymiles/getmiles/index.jsp
The changes DL made to the Skymiles program do not affect you unless you are an elite flyer. Unless you have aspirations to fly more than 25,000 miles per year you won't notice what DL did to one of the best elite programs that existed. Then again, you might notice the mass exodus of Medallion members in about six months.
I hope this helps you in your quest. Be careful as this hobby can be very addicting!
