It saves everyone cost and time, and it was about $100 cheaper to not include stuff that has to be mailed back to us. We paid around $160 for the whole invitation package, which was 75 invites and 50 RSVP cards (some invites don't get RSVP cards, such as my coworkers). I figured that almost all of the people coming to our wedding have e-mail, and for the few that dont, they certainly have phones. It solved the issue with a bare minimum of effort and expense from everyone involved. Though, some brides are particular about that sort of stuff so, as with all things in relationships, talk about them and then see how you can make it happen for her.
This is exactly what we did and it worked out great. The website kept track of people and their e-mail addresses and allowed us to get a decent idea of who was coming. Only a few folks called and that was mostly because they didn't have a computer.
