I guess the only benefit to me to being a Platinum will be to avoid paying change fees as a Gold on reward tickets (of which $150 is also retarded). From experience, the only way to even a standard reward is to book one anyway and change the dates as it gets closer to departure. I've sometimes changed a reservation maybe half a dozen times, or more. Even changing the city pairs, or changing as F becomes available, etc. That would be impossible to do as a Gold, now. Why even bother?

a bunch of folks have said this and it makes no sense, unless you are buying full Ys all the time. Being Plat means getting upgraded, being gold means no upgrade on many flights... Never get past the plats.

I have always wondered why CO had that 500 mile minimum. It's good to see it gone.
Why are Platinum and Gold Elites at the same bonus level? I don't get the sense of that one.
Thanks for the update.
I actually find the checked bag fee to be a pain. the only result appears to be that on full flights you leave late due to gate checking bags. Also forces me to board early... Seems to impead the efficent opporation of the airline.
hugh on 500 miles? only on the CO forum
Nearly every airline has the same bonus level for mid and top tier. CO was unique in giving an extra bump.
