There is no need to opt for that. Every status mail over 55k gives you an extra destination mile. As long as you have not reached this threshold, nothing happens. I have currently in the range of 210k status miles and 400k destination miles and for me, any F/C flight on a Star Alliance carrier scores 625%. 300% after the flight is credited, another 25% credited close to the end of a month and a further 300% credited mid next month. This is a very good deal
