So on my comparison crieria previously stated (making Emerald each year by reaching the exact amount of miles or SCs required, and no more) it would take almost twice as long to earn Life Status on AA - exactly 10 years for Gold, exactly 20 years for Platinum.
Though which is 'easier' to earn I guess depends on a person's travel patterns - looks like (I say looks like, I am REALLY no expert) if you travel mostly in J and F you would get to Life Status far far quicker on QF (as F and J only earn 1.5 for status on AA), but if you fly a lot in Y it might be a different story.
AA Life Status is based on miles in account, not flown miles.
A partner e.g. credit card, that dumps 2,000,000 miles in a brand new AAdvantage account turns that account Platinum immediately, for the life of the AAdvantage Program.
