As far as I know, all earned elites got the companion coach cert although apparently with some usage/expiration differences. It is reasonable to assume that those who made 1k in the extended period earned their 1P or 2P last year and therefore got that certificate as well. So the only difference in benefits for the 1ks via extended period
vs. earned 1ks is the earlier expiration time (and/or applicable fares) on their companion certs.
