This is in line with a quote I received back in April for $259 each way LAX-HNL for <25 lb. pet, with reservations up to 24 hours in advance, traveling on the same flight, recent (w/in 10 days) health certificate required. Who knows if this fee has increased recently. The one advantage is you *can* earn miles for pets transported using the so-called PetSafe service - but not for in-cabin pets. HA at the time was $175 each way, and they allow in cabin interisland for free, FWIW (once you've jumped all the state quarantine hurdles).

I've traveled in cabin with a 30 lb. dog. He was a little squished, but better than the alternatives (long-term kennel or cargo). He was a quiet squished though: None of the other passengers ever knew he was there. The Sherpa bags are the way to go. (Also, sorry to hear the Yorkie is no longer with us.)
