Hilton Asks Flyers to Dream of a Post-Pandemic Vacation

NEW YORK - JULY 4: People walk past Hilton hotel at 6th Avenue on July 4, 2013 in New York. Hilton is the 38th largest private company in the United States according to Forbes.

Although traveling is a stressful practice during a pandemic, Hilton Hotels want travelers to imagine what it could be like in the future. The hotelier launched a giveaway, giving flyers a 10-day stay at any Hilton portfolio property in the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has grounded travelers all over the world, forcing them to cancel trips and rethink future plans as governments closed borders and changed the way we fly forever. Hilton Hotels is challenging flyers to think beyond the current travel stress, and imagine what it could be like once everything is over. To encourage those dreams, the company launched the “The Dream*Cation Giveaway,” giving one traveler the voyage of a lifetime.

Hilton Data Shows People Vow to Travel More Once Pandemic Ends

Because of the novel Coronavirus disruption, travelers now say they are putting more value on their vacation days, and will stop waiting for “someday” to take the trips they dream of. In a recent Hilton survey, two-thirds of travelers say they will “quit putting off special trips they have always wanted to take,” while 63 percent say they are going to take relaxing trips instead of adventure trips.

Why are they missing travel? An overwhelming 90 percent say travel has given them their happiest lifetime memories, while making travel memories are the most important reason to take a trip for 63 percent. Travel partners make it more exciting as well: 57 percent say the people who go on trips with them make travel an unforgettable experience (for the better).

To give travelers that needed boost, Hilton’s Dream*Cation giveaway will give one lucky winner the freedom to go wherever their heart takes them. The winner and one guest of their choosing will receive transportation to and from their dream destination, and a 10-day, 9-night stay at any property within the Hilton portfolio. If they don’t feel comfortable going next year, that’s okay – the prize trip can be taken anytime through 2023.

While the prize is valued at $25,000, Hilton says anything unspent after transportation and hotel costs will be given to the winner as cash. This can be used for anything during their trip, including food, incidentals, or spending money.

To enter, Hilton Honors members can visit the Dream*Cation Giveaway page through Dec. 31, 2020, and follow all the instructions. No purchase is necessary, and only one winner will be selected at random in January 2021.

Hilton Lowers Reward Chart, Extends Status to Encourage Travel

The giveaway is just one example of Hilton’s commitment to helping frequent flyers get more from their Hilton Honors points. Prior to the pandemic, Hilton announced more earnings for multi-room bookings and unlimited points earnings on bookings. And in July 2020, the program announced they would extend the loyalty status of all current elites through 2022.

More recently, the program lowered the points required to redeem reward nights. Hilton Honors members can use the Points Explorer tool to discover new destinations, and how many points it takes to book a room.
