In Brief: Richard Branson Surprises Flyers With In-Flight Performance Alongside Cast of “Motown” (VIDEO)

Founder and CEO Richard Branson surprised his customers when he broke into an impromptu performance with the cast of “Motown the Musical” on a recent Virgin Atlantic flight. Branson and 10 cast members from the Broadway show danced down the aisles of the Boeing 787-9 en route from London to Detroit, singing such Motown hits as Get Ready and Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

“Detroit is known as the home of Motown, and it was fantastic to have the cast onboard getting everyone up and dancing in the aisles,” said Virgin Atlantic’s Senior VP of Customer Experience Reuben Arnold. Arnold said the event was a superb way to celebrate the airline’s new route to the Motor City.

This story has been updated to reflect that Branson was on a 787-9 at the time of his performance, not an A330.

Yes, 787! Look at the overhead and window details. Jessie could you correct the text please? Was Sir Richard actually riding in Economy? (I don't believe it either!)

Being from DTW, I was excited when they flew in on a 787-9 to announce the new route, but instantly deflated when heard that the regular service from DTW-LHR will be on an A330.
