Fly Emirates and discover Atlantis, The Palm

Anyone interested? Check out the link

http://www.emirates.com/english/dest..._the_palm.aspx

Sounds good but my flights in Oct arrive DXB at odd hours (0015hr, 2300hr, 0500hr) & connecting to other flights a few hours later but I could stopover for a day since I'm on vacation. Hotel check-in only at 1500hr and check-out at 1200hr. Any ideas how I can maximize my stay?

Thanks for this .... sounds like a good deal

The offer stipulates single occupancy so would the hotel kick up a fuss if you had some-one else in the single room who isn't a F/J pax?

Dont think they would , *if* you are discreet enough

Went with the family during Eid so it is unfair to criticise much. The only problems i experienced were, no valet parking, it was full, this meant a 30 minute walk from where i eventually parked. The AC in the reception area was not working and no mirrors or baby changing facilities in the ladies bathrooms (according to Mrs Gorilaz). And you will either love or hate the decoration of the public areas. The good restaurants closed at 03.00pm which meant you were left with fast food only. The water park itself was top notch, worth going to just for that.

I had a fab stay at the hotel & fun at the waterpark. The hotel was booked solid when I checked-out (over 1500 rooms fully booked!). The staff were friendly & I didn't experience any problems

The decoration was to me what the legend Atlantis would've looked like if is was in the middle east, sort of Nemo meets Ali Baba. As expected, prices of everything are sky-high from food to facilities

I'm flying business Lgw/Dxb/Amd/Dxb/Lgw. Can I stay at the Atlantis Palms twice whilst going through Dubai...on the outward journey and then again on the return? The rules are not specific on the Emirates website.

No. You can use the offer 1 time only. Either on the way or back. But do use it because its fully worth it. I spent 2 nights flying EK in F and it was amazing.

Also the hotel has no problem if you bring a guest to stay with you in your room. Just don't go and declare it to reception. Ask your guest to wait in the lobby area while you check in and that works fine. Atleast it did with me.

Cheers

Hi All, Need some help as I'll be using this offer in Dec08 and dont really know that much about Dubai so just need info on ...

  • What sort of room they allocate for this promo ?
  • Can we upgrade to a better room by paying the difference ?
  • What about commute time and best transport option from Atlantis to the usual Dubai attractions ?
  • We'll be there for 4 days any good ideas for an itinerary as haven't seen much of Dubai so what would be the best way to get the most on such a short time.
  • I'm departing to AKL at 8:40 am so have roughly 12+ hours from check-out (mid-day) to flight dep.
Would it better to book another night at the Atlantis or any other hotel or
just spend the extra time out in Dubai or
should i check-in at night/early morn and spend time at the airport or F lounge ?

If spending time roaming in Dubai can i store my luggage anywhere ? Also what would be the best way to use the Chauffeur drive as there are 2 of us.

Many thanks for your replies

Cheers,
EK_Flyer

No idea of the type of room but I am sure you will be able to upgrade for a fee. Getting on and off the Palm is painless after the rush hour. It depends what type of hotel you are looking for the single night. If you want to stay towards the Marina/Jumeirah there are some of the best, but expensive, hotels. Habtoor Grand, Grosvenor House, Le Royal Meridien, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, Sheraton, Hilton, The Westin, Royal Mirage Jumeirah Beach Hotel etc etc. A good option is some of the Dubai Marina hotels. The Harbour Hotel has really good offers and is just across the marina from the Habtoor and Grosvenor House. Halfway between Dubai Marina and the city centre are all the hotels on Sheik Zayed Road, Emirates Towers, Shangri La, Crowne Plaza, Rotana Towers, Grand Millennium, Fairmont etc. The city centre has too many to mention. If you like food there are some fantastic but again expensive restaurants. Ramsey has Vere at the Hilton Dubai Creek, Intercontinental has Reflets par Pierre Gagnaire, Fire and Ice at Raffles. Most hotels in fact have pretty good dining options. The Locatelli Restaurant in Atlantis has received really good reviews, never dined there so cannot confirmThings to do, hot air ballooning really good, the normal dune bashing in a 4WD, deep sea fishing, shopping shopping and shopping. For the chauffeur drive no problem for 2 pax you can basically get dropped off in most cities in the Emirates. Used to be a left luggage desk in T1 no idea if there is one in T3. Personally i would rather get out of the airport for a few hours and arrive back 3 hours before departure, take a shower, massage and eat at the A La Carte Restaurant. The menu and quality is really good.

Thanks for the reply Gorillaz , i was thinking the same thing check-out is at 12 coupled with being at the airport 3 hours prior just means another night would be a waste of cash. We're early birds so Good to know transport to/from Atlantis is not an issue outside peak hours ..

Course i'll be checking in early only so i can scope out the new T3. So:

How early can i check-in for my flight ?
We'll be at T3 at night or early morning ... are there staff around at these early hours ? for the lounge/restaurant/massage?

You can check in any time you want, transfer from the Atlantis you can reckon on 45 minutes if it is not the rush hour. Good luck on the leap of faith!!!

Also with the hot air ballooning and dune bashing which would be the good operators for the tours. Dont mean to be a pain but i've heard there several but only a couple are good for both activities

Many Thanks for your replies again ! ^

Leap of faith is a crazy water slide at the Atlantis it is an amazing adrenalin rush. Frankie's up at JBR in the Oasis Beach Towers has a really good buzz. Owned by Frankie Dettorri and Marco Pierre White. Good value for money, make sure you have a 09.00pm - 09.30pm table. There are some good restaurants around the Souk Madinat complex. Favourite Thai restaurant is at the Park Hyatt, but make sure you book and ask for an outside table. You tend to find the golf club restaurants are also good, my favourite is the Montgomerie. Friday Brunch is really big in Dubai, most hotels put on an eat and drink as much as you like buffet. I wnt balloning with www.ballooning.ae Heard that Blue Banana are also good they have a Russian MIG they take you up in, probably crazy expensive. Probably the best known operator is Arabian Adventures.

I'd recommend the Sukothai restaurant at the Le Meridien village (opposite the airport).

I did a really silly thing last year because I like this restaurant so much. I booked a JFK-DXB-JFK return on impulse... in Y class! I got there on Friday evening, went to the restaurant, and flew back on Sunday morning. Complete madness.

It did bag me a load of EK miles though

Cheers,
Rick
