BNE-LAX business with toddler

Hi all,

Has anyone experienced taking a 'lap infant' (20 month) on BNE-LAX in VA business? (Or similar long haul).

We have this booked for Sept on KF miles but after reading so many threads now having second thoughts about having toddler on lap for such a long flight.

Aside from being super prepared and ensuring enough entertainment for child and as little disturbance to others as possible. Would welcome any other advice if anyone has done this with a similar age child (particularly where/how do they sleep when too big for bassinet)?

Alternatively: is it possible to either (a) change the infant ticket to an actual seat paying with miles or (b) 'downgrade' (?!) to 3 economy seats?

Help!!

Here's our experience:
Took then 9 month old Detroit - JFK - Germany (2 + 8 hours) in arms with 3 business seats for us. Not much of a choice, tough family situation. Going there was evening/ night and worked very well. We took turns and she slept most of the time. Return was all day flight non stop 9 hours and was extremely difficult, unfortunately also impacting people around us. Since she is 18 months we took her on several 3- hour trips, same experience: her regular sleeping time no problem, day time very difficult. 15 hours day trip will be tough for you. Separate seat likely better choice, also safer.

Good luck, we are taking that flight to Sydney soon, and she will have her own seat.
