best seats for couple on upper class on 787-9
hello:
the online seat map in UC is to me at least, confusing.
i booked 3g and 3k for my spouse and me for a future lax- lhr flight.
would these be appropriate for socializing , in a quiet manner of course, across the aisle.? and appropriate for exchanging the latest magazines that we bring along etc. ?
anyone have any preference for seats for couples on this aircraft?

Assuming you want to see and talk to the OH I would choose 3G and 4K
There is a stagger on the opposite seats-see the plan from Virgin web site
Scroll down a bit to the 787-9 and open the drop box.

I have a similar question...
We are booked on a return trip LHR to Boston in March. Outbound is a 787, inbound a A330.
Currently we are reserved on 4K/5K outbound and 5A/6A inbound.
My wife is a nervous flyer and so ideally we would be able to hold hands on take-off but I guess that is not possible with the Upper seating. But it would be good to be able to talk to each other and socialise easily during the flight.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I hadn't really thought about holding hands in Upper before, but I was on a 787 last night from HKG; and the partition between the seats isn't very high at all.
It was easy to hold a conversation with my wife, and if she had been nervous at all, holding hands wouldn't have been a problem.

Being across the isle one can see each other. Talking is another matter. One may able to attract attention, but holding even a brief conversation would annoy nearby passengers to no end.
Holding hands across partitions is technically possible, but not comfortable at all. Wouldn't work for more than 1-2 minutes, which probably is all you need for providing takeoff/landing comfort.
Talking across partitions I don't think it would work too well. If I'm talking loud enough for 3K to hear me, why wouldn't 5K hear me too ?

I have a similar question, but relating to the A330-300 upper class seating. We are flying from Manchester to Boston at the end of August and the seating configuration is shown as 1-1-1. Currently reserved seats 3A and 3G, but looking at the layout for the 787-9 that is referred too in the post above, I'm not sure if they are adjacent to each other in the A330. On the Virgin fleet page referred too above, it shows a 1-2-1 layout, but reading other threads, it appears that this is changing from March and the Manchester flights will be 1-1-1. Any help would be appreciated.
To get adjacent seats for us, have had to change seats to 3G and 3K.

left hand side and then one after the other? Took 9A and 10A but was considering 3K and 3G. Dunno if it’s possible to talk with the person you’re traveling with. I have never flown Virgin Atlantic.

I would say that you'd have a better chance at being able to talk to each other in 9A and 10A vs being opposite across the aisle, at least without upsetting everyone around you. But once you're in flight you or your friend can sit on the other's footstool if you want to chat sitting down.

Why not talk when you get there? Just enjoy the flight! If it’s an overnight flight, many will want to sleep. The bar is a great idea! The seats on the left side of Upper Class face the backs of the middle row seats. So those seats are more private. The layout IS a little odd.
