Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the meal. I've only had one bad meal in UC, although I am comparing with mainly BA meals so the competition isn't exactly stiff.

As others have said, I don't understand the LON-DUB comment as food wouldn't be served on such a short sector.

Have you tested any other business class product to make a such bold statement?

For me the food served in their UC was pub-quality.

Perhaps it is Dublin, California and the food is pub quality, but the pub is The Village Pub.

ANZ definitely have a better food and wine serving than you get with Virgin UC. I've flown with both on many occasions. Certainly nothing wrong with Virgin UC fare (although I was on the last SYD-HKG trip and that was terrible) but ANZ Business is just one level higher in terms of quality and taste IMO.

Due to the switch from DL Metal to VS on the MAN-ATL route, I am about to fly Virgin UC for the first time soon.

Very concerned that the DL wine is considered better than Virgin's, because my opinion of the wine served by DL is that it is very mediocre, bordering on downright nasty.

Wine List: http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb...mpagnelist.jsp

I don't do wine so it is meaningless to me so the views here do not express those of Oz Clarke.

I don't do wine either, so can't offer an opinion.

I am intrigued however that you say "Very concerned that the DL wine is considered better than Virgin's"

Is considered better by whom?
What is the rationale for this statement?
Surely, whether one wine is better than another is a personal choice?

I am quoting the previous post who in his opinion stated that DL's wine is better. My concern is that having experienced the quality of the wine that DL serve in B/E many times, I fear the worst when I eventually get try the Virgin offerings

I am no wine expert, but after about 20 VS UC and DL BusinessElite flights on UK-US in the last 2 years, that was my opinion - DL's wines are actually pretty good.

I know several VS people who said the same thing, and after that feedback, VS is upgrading its wine list.

That wine list is hilarious --- it must be 8 years old and is definitely not representative of the current offering. Tanqueray 10... Of course, this tells you more about the VS website than it does about the onboard offering.

twincheeks -- the onboard wine is nothing special. In my opinion, it has improved in the past year or so, but if you are remotely serious about wine then it will be a disappointment. The Clubhouses are better.

Thank you for your comments Sadly, there isn't a Clubhouse at MAN as far as I am aware.
