Meals on Flights - New 2.5 Hours Rule

Now that US Airways has changed the meals on flights rule to anything above 2.5 hours as per https://reservations.usairways.com/e...irstclass.html, can anyone confirm this is true for PHL-MCO flights, which clock in at 2 hours, 41 minutes?

No. It is 861 miles. 900 is the cutoff.

I had similar with CLT-DFW with the old 2:45 rule while flight was generally listed above that, miles were not above 1000 so no meal.

Check mileage, it is more accurate indicator.

I wish. Just short enough to not qualify. And since it is such a leisure travel heavy route, no reason to provide a meal.

At least you'll get hot nuts now. Pre-11/18, it was, "Here's a basket of snacks and if you don't like it, tough."

I am on US 891 CLT-DFW right now, which is 937 miles and blocked at 2:51, but is a midafternoon flight. Got hot nuts and the "enhanced" snack basket (with fruit and sandwiches). Flight details said "refereshments" in F, which seems to be what we got. Should we have theoretically gotten something different post-11/18?

Another report indicated breakfast on CLT-DFW. Maybe the hours are reduced due to it being an exception flight?

So there seems to be exceptions to the 900 mile / 2:30 rule? I'm flying PHL-FLL next month and it says dinner on the outbound and refreshments on the inbound. I assume it's because of the time of day as the flights are 995 miles and over 2:30?

Feel the pain. The worst is DCA-FLL, a route that I frequent, clocking in at 899 miles. I've checked, and even post 11/18 it's still listed as "refreshments," meaning snack basket.

I thought there were only exception flights if they were below the 900 mile threshold. If it's above 900 miles, it should be a meal no matter what, as long as the flight departs before 8:00 pm. A mid-afternoon flight should have lunch served.

Does not seem to be the case on my 995 miles flight:

FLL - PHL
Fort Lauderdale, FL to Philadelphia, PA

2:00 PM FLL 4:48 PM PHL 2h48m Refreshments A320 First (F)

It almost like catering didn't get the memo.

I was on CLT-SEA and got proper service, SEA-CLT didn't have warm nuts at all. Weird.

Yes, the exceptions have ben discussed in the forum (advanced search 'meal, exception') and are noted on aa.com.

Seems like I should be getting a meal then (995 miles and 2h48min at 2pm).

"When planning your travel, please keep in mind that we serve meals in First and Business Class between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. Meals are also determined by flight miles, so time-ranges are approximate.

900 – 1,298 miles
(2:30 – 3:30 hours)
◾Warmed mixed nuts, followed by a three-course meal including a warm cookie for dessert is served on most flights."

The exceptions are for flights below 900 miles, not above. My guess would be that the US website is not correctly displaying the changes.

On the exact same day I got a full breakfast in F on the same route. How bizarre. I would write that in, since it goes explicitly against what is written on the website.
