100% Bonus Miles on Dividend Miles Purchase

I just received an email offering 100% bonus miles on DM purchases for the next week, through September 30. Maximum bonus is 50K, so the optimum purchase is $1,750 for 50K miles plus 50K bonus. If I buy, it would be based on the assumption that DMs will convert to AAdvantage miles on a 1:1 basis at some point.

Any opinions?

Safest bet you'll ever make. There is zero question about it.

They have already said that the miles will ultimately be combined into the AAdvantage account and it will be at a 1:1 ratio.

On Gary's blog, he reports that unofficial sources have said that this may be the last 100% bonus miles promotion that US Airways will be running.

Hmm...I'd guess Gary's statement is pretty reliable, however since this is just a rumor/speculation at this point, I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger and purchase US miles within the next few days with no usage for them till at least next summer.

I thought the offer was too expensive....weighed what we needed vs the cost....wasn't saving anything....

What's the matter, people aren't buying enough USDM anymore? I was actually waiting for a share promo to follow the gift/buy promo, with the slim hope that it will be the old style of 100% to the receiving party (vs 75/25 last time) and the lower 1.1 rate... one can dream, eh?

Very tempted. Most likely I'll buy 100K miles before Oct 12.

I just redeemed 49,500 AA miles for AA F BOS-LAX and CX business LAX-CGK. So using US Airways miles pricing, I just paid $866 for it.

I just received my annual packet for my US Airways MasterCard, which includes the annual companion pass. Below the companion pass, there are the usual discount codes to use with rental car partners, but something else caught my eye.

There is a promotional link that one can use to buy DM with 100% bonus when using a US Airways MC. The T&Cs indicate the offer is valid to 12/31/2014.

Most interesting to me however, is that while the T&Cs state the 100% bonus is capped at 50,000 miles, the drop-down box allows you to select up to 80,000 miles with a 100% bonus for a total of 160,000 miles.

Has anyone else received their annual packet with this offer?

+1 just saw the same thing. Thought that was strange, always seen it capped at 100k...Not sure what to make of that.

Yes. Which is why I'm waiting out the current offer in case they do a cheaper share promo. If they don't, I have the personal promo from the packet. There's no expiration date printed on it.

When you go to the site it says the offer is valid through 12/31/2014.

What is the mile cost if I may ask?

It's the same as usual, $0.035/mile, plus an additional 7.5% tax. The 100% bonus drops the per mile price down to $0.0175/mile, with additional 7.5% tax.

The offer states "up to 50,000 bonus miles" but the drop-down selection allows for 80,000 and shows a bonus of 80,000 miles for a total of 160,000 miles. However, if you select 80,000 and continue to the next page, it shows 80,000 + 50,000 bonus. So it appear the bonus is indeed capped at 50,000 miles. Drat!

It's not quite as lucrative as the last buy USDM promo but still not bad for international J/F redemptions.

What are the chances that US-AA will devaluate the partner awards chart in January? That would be a heartbreak.
