At the very least, it puts your situation no longer in the '**Emergency**' category
This!

Given it to me, as long as the TPAC remains intact, what is the big deal to stress out like this, on a route that fortunately has cheap fare available?!

How do the flight loads look? Maybe you can "book" the overnight in LAS, but standby upon arrival?

There are going to be tons of these sorts of problems in the coming year. Simply put, US lacks the ability to change a *A award on another carrier and a *A award can't be mixed with OW.

Sometimes this will cause massive problems. But, in circumstances such as this, it is a very real risk to mess up the long-haul, in this case, TPAC, portion of a hard-to-find itinerary, for the very small inconveniences of a cheap feeder flight on one end or the other.

What time does your BR flight arrive LAX, and what time does the UA flight depart?

Make the AA call

Which is what I did having a *A cancel out due to agent not ticketing prior to 3/30 deadline. Non-status on US as well, so that was big help just getting to speak to someone within 2 minutes.
If this continues to be unsuccessful PM me and I will give you contact of AAngel(not AC)at US who put together PIA-ORD-JFK-HEL-HNG-NRT-HNG-LAX-DFW-PIA in BC at 90K after above cancel.
Best of Luck!

I know this exact scheduling, it is BR16 to UA 535, minimum connect in LAX being 2h on international-domestic.

BR flights routinely arrive comfortably ahead of schedule. If you are in J, there is an escort through customs and to the UA gate. The fastest way of getting over from Tom Bradley is walking (the shuttle service is a disgrace).

Aeroplan (Air Canada) did the exact same job of canceling and rebooking the reservation through SFO when the BR schedule change took the connection down to 1h55, however I asked them to keep the old schedule in order to stay on the Hello Kitty jet and Aeroplan did that (albeit with a note in the system to say I accepted the risk of misconnect as under legal connection time). Ended up with an hour in UA domestic terminal before take off to LAS.

Thanks for the advice everyone. After countless calls, I decided to call the ex-plat desk, and they worked with someone from the CP desk. The reservation was reinstated with the narrow MCT. (This was the last flight coming out of LAX).

They worked with a UA liaison to book the *A flight that was not supposed to be bookable. Also, the CP desk told me that while they may not be able to "see" availability on *A this doesn't mean they can't call the respective liaison to correct any flight changes. Countless "managers" from the reservation department were far from helpful and some have gone to suggest that I drop the flight to LAS and just "drive" to LAS.

My advice for future *A changes: Ask an AAngel for help!

This is the best advice. Accept their changes for the next flight the next day. Hope you get there earlier to standby. If not, book a cheap one-way.

Edit: You got better result. congrats.
