Gold using FF ticket wanting to pay for Go First
Weird question as I am a US Gold but now need to book a flight that leaves this Thursday. I can book this R/T for $660 or using my MC bonus for only 20k miles. Right now if I buy the ticket I should get the F free upgrade. But my question is I can burn only 20k miles (which I value at 1 cent per mile) to get the same flights. But I really want the F seat on my way out. I noticed 5 open F seats; that if I purchased the seat I as a gold this close out I would roll into the free upgrade. But looking at the seat map no other preferred seats in coach are even taken for silvers to move up.
So my long winded question is are Go First open to anyone who has a seat in coach or are people who use a FF ticket restricted from buying the upgrade even though seats in F would go open?

i believe you would be able to buy the upgrade, but not 100% sure honestly...

Looking for 100% confirm that I can use a FF ticket and pay for the Go First! Please reply either way if this work for you.

Oh yes, you can do it! I've processed many GoFirst upgrades for people on award tickets.
