Upgrades on UA
Is there anyway to use miles, or a gold preferred status to upgrade on UA operated flights on a discounted fare?

I'm US CP and have never been upgraded on a United Flight ever...

I'm Platinum and have never been able to upgrade on United even on travel days offering to pay for e upgrades nothing has ever been available - this has happened even when I booked on US Air and one of the segments was on UA metal

I have flown UA many many many times as a US elite and have been upgraded exactly once.
Luckily, it was from Y to C on a transcon ps flight.
