I just landed at EWR about 9:35pm EST. We had to hold for a few minutes due to "runway change" according to the pilots. I saw some fire trucks with their emergency lights on in the distance. We almost diverted to IAD. Glad everyone safe.

Blew 5 tires on landing, almost hit a building, but didn't.

4480 had 12 seats taken total according to the seat map. Flew ROC-EWR, operated by Express Jet. ER4 aircraft type.

Not a good day for UA operations at EWR. It appears a worker was seriously injured after a freak accident involving a catering truck and baggage cart: http://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/20...r_serious.html

5 crew? Wouldn't it be 2 flight crew + 1 FA?

I was on UA1243, left gate C128 at 8.45pm. I didn't see anything unusual. The flight took off from runway 4L just after 9pm, and I could see planes lining up landing on runway 4R.
Could the accident be on runway 29? In fact, my earlier flight from IAH landed on 29.

What's the tire configuration? If it's 1x1 up front and 2x2 in the back that's a total of 6 tires and blowing 5/6 is a big in my book

Image on abc is definitely an ERJ 145, which has 2-2-2 wheel setup - thus if the "5 tires blown" statement is correct, does means 5 out of 6.
