Odd Flight Number 1776
I know there was grumblings over the elimination of some "fun" flight numbers on some routes....(1492 to Columbus, 777 to Vegas, etc)
So I happened to plug in 1776 a few Tuesdays back, and it showed 1776 operating Minot, ND to Lawton, OK (pretty regularly on Tuesdays), and on Thursdays it shows as a Elmira, NY to Laurel, MS route.
Both never show an A/C type, and the flights never appear on Flightaware.
Anyone have any ideas, this seems a bit odd....

Doesn't seem so odd when you consider the following:
* Not all (or maybe any) flight numbers are coordinated
* The same flight number may be used on multiple different routes in a week/month

I do not find that the flight operates two routes with the same flight number, it was more a question of why these two flights operate the routes that they do.
They do not go through or to a hub, and none has regularly scheduled CO/UA service. They also do not have a 19xx/18xx flight number, indicative of a charter. Also, they are routes, which are, I think its safe to say, non-traditional?

CO has occasionally brought back 1492 IAH-CMH but that flight has been opererting with an RJ so you can't use 1492 on a express flight. CMH is an all RJ station which I am sure they are not happy about that. It's a good market.
The last time I was there the AM CMH depature was a 737 and it was completley full.

Minot Airport and Minot Air Force Base have two distinct codes (MOT/MIB, respectively) Wouldn't it make sense, if its purpose was the A/F base, that it would land there?
Also, the Aircraft does a round trip (Up from Lawton as 1775, back as 1776)
Also, it does a Pittsburgh-Laurel flight each week as well.
