If I'm reading Flightaware right, a A319 is going to continue from OMA to JFK as UA14.

That oughta be interesting for the F and C pax. Anyway, happy to read no injuries.

LiveATC has the audio on the KOMA 1/22 0300-0330Zulu feed starting at time index 21:45

As I understand it, there is no UA ground personnel at the airport at this late hour. The entire airport is actually closed. So, I wonder how they will do the new seat assignments?

If you go to
http://www.liveatc.net/archive.php
and select KOMA (Omaha) for "feed" and enter the time range the poster indicates, you can hear the archived radio conversation of UA14 approaching OMA, starting at the time mark poster indicates. There's not a lot to hear other than they were obviously in a bit of a hurry to get down, as they were too high for the approach, and had to do some S-turns to get down quickly. Approach gives them permission to maneuver at pilots discretion; and that's about it.

I was going to listen in to hear the departure of UAL14, but I couldn't seem to find a feed for KOMA on the site. I used the search box like usual, but it wasn't coming up. I did see the feed listed in the archives, but don't see anywhere for a live feed...

Update: UA9944, which appears to be the replacement, landed about an hour ago at KOMA. I'm listening to the 500-530Z archive and they were cleared to land.

Evidently, there is no link to a live KOMA feed, but the archives are current.

Right, I see it in the archives list, but apparently there is no live feed....

The 1/22 600-630Z feed hasn't archived yet and UA14 apparently had not yet been cleared for takeoff as of the end of the 530-600Z feed. There are PIREPS of rime ice and temps of -6 at 7000ft.

Update: UA14 en route - ETA 4:02EST

PIREPS = pilot reports

* Soft rime is less dense than hard rime and is milky and crystalline, like sugar. Soft rime appears similar to hoar frost.
* Hard rime is somewhat less milky, especially if it is not heavy.
* Clear ice is transparent and homogeneous and resembles ice-cube ice in appearance. Its amorphous, dense structure helps it cling tenaciously to any surface on which it forms.

Both rime types are less dense than clear ice and cling less tenaciously, therefore damage due to rime is generally minor compared to clear ice. Glaze ice is similar in appearance to clear ice but it is the result of a completely different process, occurring during freezing rain or drizzle.

These three types occur also when ice forms on the surface of an aircraft when it flies through a cloud made of supercooled water liquid droplets. Rime ice is the less dense, milky ice is intermediate and clear ice is the most dense. Dense ice can spoil lift and may have a catastrophic effect on an airborne aircraft.
