A list of UA schedule excuses
When checking the UAL website for flight status, you often see a reason for the delay. I will add more as others post new contributions.

Reason: Schedule change due to Crew
Reason: Schedule change due to Aircraft Servicing
Reason: Schedule change due to Customer Service
Reason: Schedule change due to Airport Operations
Reason: Schedule change due to Late Arriving Aircraft
Reason: Schedule change due to Cabin Service
Reason: Schedule change due to Air Traffic Control
Reason: Schedule change due to Weather
Reason: Schedule change due to Ramp Service
Reason: Schedule change due to Catering
Reason: Schedule change due to Facilities
Reason: Schedule change due to Computer Failure


Reason: Cancellation due to Weather

Weather and ATC are reasons. The rest are controlled by UA.

Reason: Schedule change due to Customer Service

My personal favorite...I have no clue what it means. Could it mean:

The $#)(#$#@ pax won't sit down because they're too busy trying to shove their entire life's worth of belongings into an overhead?

We're waiting for a GS pax, so we'll inconvenience the other 180 pax? (in which case, it should be called customer disservice)?

Any other suggestions?

My SFO-NRT flight a week ago was delayed "due to Customer Service." I believe it means there are enough disserviced pax they're trying to accomodate that they're holding the flight. I learned from talking to people on the plane that UA had cancelled SFO-CAN and that some pax didn't learn of it until arriving at the airport. There was last-minute scrambling to get them onto SFO-NRT-CAN.

A year or two ago when the Unimatic system went down, that reason was very real.

I'd imagine that it would be pretty real if the system checking in passengers was down as well.

This happend to me once:

Due to missing passengers.

Also,

Schedule Change due to waiting for incoming passengers on connecting flights.

Maybe a bunch of people are missing the point here... the OP is looking for reasons that would appear on united.com's flight status page, not "real" excuses that might be given by GAs, CSRs, or whomever.

The OP is looking for things that have, can, will, or would appear on united.com's flight status page.

Yes. Check ORD-PEK right now, UA851, 7/30. A pretty minor delay for the scary sounding reason.
