Any disadvantages to checking in online?

Just curious, but are there any disadvantages to checking in online?

Does it have any effect on upgrade wait lists?

Do you still get offered those $550 international upgrades at the check in terminals when checking in your bags?

Now THAT is what I call fast searching!

Three relevant threads in 7 minutes, plus a bonus multi-quote cut and paste.

Wow, thanks! That was fast.

It's just too bad that it looks like I'm disqualified from online check in because it's international. They want proof of onward tickets.

I'll just have to show my Japan VISA when I check in at ORD tomorrow.

I still like the feel of a good old fashioned card-stock Boarding Pass. But sadly that is getting harder to come by with the new Chickens coming out (like at SFO.)

There is no reason you can't have your BP on cardstock, if you print it yourself!
