My brother flew UA a lot when he worked in South Jersey and then Des Moines in the late 60s-mid 70s, and made 100,000 miler fairly quickly. I was a teenager, then a college student during this time, but had flown a fair amount, and was really envious of his RCC membership that went with the status.

my dad was a member in the second half of the 60s when I was in high school. He used to travel around the midwest quite frequently from our home base of Chicago. He talks about getting free booze from United and Delta in the club. Not sure I really know how grand it was relative to today's GS.

100,000 Mile Club
I know this is an old post, but I just found my grandfather's United Air Lines 100,000 mile club metal card from 1956.
