NEW ELITE BONUS on ANA (NH) metal flights from April 1

(Edited 4/1) From today, 4/1, UA starts to award elite bonus for all ANA flights. Accumulating rate of most transpac economy fare is now 100% (from 50/70%).

---

From 4/1, NH-UA-CO will award bonus miles for their elite members for all of the three operated flights. Looks similar to UA-LH mileage partnership for Atlantic routes, but there is no particular NH route stated for bonus miles.

Could not find any English source at this moment.
http://www.ana.co.jp/pr/11-0103/11-ana-ua-co0209.html

Release says;
1. Beginning April 1, 2011 (date of flight), all NH-UA-CO elite members will earn bonus miles for flights operated by all these three carriers. i.e. 1K/1Ps will earn 100% and 2Ps will do 25% on ANA flights.

2. For joint-venture routes only, members of all the three will earn same percentage of miles as membership carrier operated flight.

Applicable joint-venture routes:
NRTLAX (NH, UA)
HNDLAX (NH)
NRTSFO (NH, UA)
KIXSFO (UA)
NRTSEA (UA)
NRTIAH (CO)
NRTORD (NH, UA)
NRTJFK/EWR (NH, CO)
NRTIAD (NH, UA)
NRTHNL (NH, UA)
HNDHNL (NH)

One unclear point; most of discounted NH fares will credit 70% of the miles flown to Mileage Plus. Is 25%/100% bonus based on 70%?

I believe that's what point #2 is about. If I'm reading it correctly, MP members will earn 100% on NH flights as if they were operated by UA.

Edit: I guess your question is still valid on flights that are operated only by NH like HND-LAX (and v.v.)

Thanks for sharing - more good news for Mileage Plus, meaning more options for customers. ^

Right. I missed the point.
Release says "same percentage as membership carrier" policy applies ALL JV routes including HNDLAX. So if I understand this correctly, fly HNDLAX on NH metal (flight number is no matter), credit to MP then earn 100% + elite bonus.

Edit: the question is still good for NRTCDG, HNDBKK or any other non-JV route.

No updates to Business/First EQM bonus?

I've turned down ANA flights in the past because there were no bonus EQMs for booking in the premium cabins. Is this changing as well? I haven't seen an update on united.com... It would be nice to have some more high-yield EQM earning options...

+1 - at least we have a workaround now (credit to CO, get 50% bonus). Though I still have a bad feeling that I'm going to get screwed somehow through the mileage combinations. Doing JFK-NRT-CGK-NRT-JFK in C on NH, just can't pass up the extra 10K EQM.

That's what item #2 says.

Do I understand correctly then that I can take the NH flights which are sold as UA codeshares, UA flight numbers on UA.com and earn the full 100% miles credit? In the past I always stayed clear, since I was afraid to get only a 70%
credit.

It is not clear whether it will coverfare-based bonus EQM in point 2. I am reading it as granting fare-based RDM and elite RDM bonus on those flights.

The linked page is in Japanese, and I don't read Japanese to figure out whether the annoucement addresses the fare-based EQM bonus issue.

At the moment, I understand only US, CO and LH grant fare-based bonus EQM for full Y fares and above.

No EQM-specified info on the release.
My personal speculation is MP EQM for NH high-yield classes will be 150% since AC, LH, US and CO flights are currently so.

I also noticed that MP members earn elite bonus for all AC, LH, US and CO-operated flights.

And AC. And it's B and above. But I'd say the odds of it being offered on NH as part of the JV are about 99.999999%, or maybe higher.

Small correction to the OP: NH does not fly NRT-SEA. The timing of this change stinks for me, since I'm flying to Tokyo in March, and almost certainly will be taking NH LAX-HND-LAX because the timings are better.

This release says so for transpacific joint venture route only.
Moreover, flight number (NH or UA) is not a issue here.
As long as credit to MP, same percentage as flown on UA metal.

So, MP 1P/1Ks earn 100% + 100% bonus and NH Diamonds earn 70% + 125% (total of 195%, not 157.5%) for discounted economy fares.

Guess no credit towards million miler for NH metal flights.

That will be so sweet! NH fares originated from China are significantly lower than UA's. It can do wonder to my business travel budgets.

Fare based EQM bonus is the only reason I fly almost exclusively on LH between EU and Asia instead flying other *A carriers.

Perhaps I will fly split my month transpac flighs between UA and NH after April 1st.

Thanks. KIX-SFO is missed also.

Btw, if UA got SFOHND route, this joint operation might not be realized. Bit ironic.
