Oscar Munoz PR Week's Communicator of the Year

Announced last month. Apparently, this is not a joke.

Munoz has shown himself to be a smart, dedicated, and excellent leader who understands the value of communications. His ability to connect and share with employees his vision for the airline, and get them to rally behind it, is a key reason PRWeek named him 2017 Communicator of the Year.

Congrats to Oscar. He would be my pick among the airline CEOs.

I wonder if next he decides to give pictures of a bloodied passenger to his employees so that they can show passengers what will happen to them if they disobey airline employees.

There was a recent post saying bad things about UA will not be allowed here. Here, other such places, and social media many have pointed out that UA has done this to itself by apparently using untrained UA GAs.

The airline brought this financial and PR disaster on itself and it is best to own up rather that double down, something the CEO has done with the, "we followed procedure" statement.

Better get a better PR firm and listen to them.

Yes especially when he lies about the offer of $1000 when it was $800. Doesn't matter that what he communicates isn't true. Much like that BS apology he offered.

His comment about "re accommodating" a passenger was an absolute disgrace. Than he supported the actions, and now that stock has dropped and world reaction has been so bad he is really back peddling on everything. That is disgusting. The does not care about the passenger, only the stock value. I have no respect for this man anymore. Pathetic man.

Until the horrific incident this week Munoz was indeed well-regarded by employees and passengers alike for his plainspoken candor, caring attitude, and low-key manner. I get that it's fun to pile on after something bad happens and pretend we saw it all along, but the timeline doesn't support this bluster about how "pathetic" and "disgusting" he is personally.

The people who give out this award have conceded in the press that they wouldn't pick Munoz if they were choosing a recipient now.
