FFG/United WeCare IAH Event May 20, 2017
Hi, everyone! It's been a while since we've posted, but we've been working behind the scenes to plan the 2017 events for all of you after ending the year with a bang in GUM + Island Hopper. So, with that, we are now announcing our first event of the year - IAH on Saturday, May 20. We have not had an event in this hub city in years and thought it would be a good time to return for an afternoon at the airport, specifically United's Inflight Training Center! Limited to 25 guests, you'll want to register soon.
This fun event starts at 10am and ends around 4pm and includes the following:
1) A tour of the training facility
2) A tutorial on emergency procedures during flight
3) Participate in a mock evacuation -> including an opportunity to slide down an emergency slide!
4) Q&A session with UA executives
5) Three course lunch and charity auction afterwards at Tommy Bahama in the Woodlands. Non alcoholic beverages are included.
The price for this event is $100pp, which includes a $50 donation to United WeCare via Frequent Flyer Giving.
Please note: you are responsible for getting yourself to IAH Airport and to the lunch after. Parking/transportation to the In Flight Training facility TBD. Suggest posting in this thread or private messaging other attendees to ask about carpooling.

As someone who twisted his knee badly on the chute during the Larry Kellner DO's, be aware that there are no 'friction strips" at the bottom of the chute to slow you down. If you throw yourself onto the chute, you WILL be moving fast at the bottom onto a concrete floor. They don't make you sign a document absolving them if you injure yourself for nothing. . Someone took a video of me hobbling off to the left. The very next participant was hobbling off to the right.
That being said, it was an interesting day and you get to feel how heavy the window exits are when you activate them. Recommended, with caution.
