I'm in the same boat as you (but domestically so even farther from hitting GS). I have flown 95% P and A fares this year. I'll have a handful of full F booked close in but no where near enough to get beyond ~$25K spend. GS is super unlikely at that spend level. I really do think you need to be buying full fare Y and/or C/F a decent amount of the time in order to get to the numbers they're looking for for GS.

I have also noticed fares have been low this year, especially on transpac where P fares are in high supply.

I have flown about the same as last year, but my PQD is down significantly.

Have about 125K total PQM planned by middle of July then no clue about travel for second half of 2016.

I have a couple of questions, which someone here may be able to help with.

1. How do you calculate BIS miles on United Metal, is there an easy way?

2. I'm just noticing that I'm getting fewer PQM miles coming back from ICN to BOS based on my routing. Going BOS-SFO-ICN earned 8363 PQM but returning ICN-NRT-IAD-BOS only yields 7931 PQM or a difference of 437 miles. Does this seem right?

3. Are PQM and Lifetime miles the same, assuming its on United?

BTW:

PQM: 123,328 (before Friday return to BOS - only 10,845 on non-United metal)
PQS: 43
PQD: $15,027

UA tells you at booking or on the receipt.

Also you can use a great circle mapper, like GCM, to get a fair estimate.

Elites get a minimum of 500 BIS for short flights

yes - see map
The SFO routing is longer and more indirect.
Going more toward the north pole is more direct.

This might help - Great Circle Distance

No -- PQMs can include bonuses that do not apply to BIS.

Thanks for the input, it seems like BIS calculations are not summarized in a simple way, which means it needs to be a somewhat manual calculation. I appreciate the feedback.

As of Monday, 5/23
PQM: 50,014
PQS: 54
PQD: Over $12,000
(how do I see the exact number? The app and united.com both just say Over $12,000)

Roughly on track with what I expected. Last year I hit Gold on 6/8 so I am slightly ahead this year.

2P achieved. Not sure where i'm going to end up this year. Probably 1P at a minimum but depending on how the year shakes out i might end up as a 1k.

Crossed 25k PQM on ZRH-VIE on 5/10.
Crossed $3k PQD on SFO-DEN on 5/12.

Currently:
PQM: 40.1k
PQS: 14.5
PQD: $3.1k

Crossed my minimum PQD requirement with my recent trip. Yay! But I'm going for a Chase waiver and my goal is Platinum this year. Silver if all else fails.

PQM: 44K
PWS: 28
PQD: US$3100+

PQM: 33,692

Chase Spend 25K+ (waiver met 5/23)

Silver achieved & first time ever with airline Status. I should make Platinum by the end of year. Would probably not even come close to Gold PQD without the waiver. Domestic commuter flying mostly G fares bought well in advance.
