UAL's July 2015 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 2.8 percent and consolidated capacity (available seat miles) increased 2.4 percent versus July 2014. UAL's July 2015 consolidated load factor increased 0.3 points compared to July 2014.

The biggest gainer of all may be United Continental Holdings (NYSE: UAL), which moved from dead last with a horrendous 66.8% rating in June up to third place with 73.1% of its flights arriving on time, tying it with Southwest Airlines.

The company is reverting to the PMUA policy of having the pilots taxi out before the final weight is approved. Starts later this month with the 737 fleet. This is to help with the delays. PMCO policy was more restrictive and pilots weren't able to taxi until they had the final weight.

Not much of a vault. UA has, for the recent past, been consistently about 4 points ahead of WN, about 4 points behind AA, a solid third. The numbers vary a bit, but that has been a very consistent pattern for the recent past.

The July increase in OT performance is good news.
I do wonder whether this is a 'dead cat bounce' after the operational meltdown in June, or whether it will begin a trend of stable or improving operational reliability? It's probably too much to hope for excellence, but I'd settle for reliability.

The decline in use of UX continues with nearly 10% decrease in Available Seat Miles while mainline is up 4.2% (and overall is up 2.8%). (July-July numbers)
June numbers were -8%, 3.6% and 2.2%.
And almost 4.8% June-July 2015 overall seat miles increase (but much of this likely the standard vacation season increase).
