As long as my flight doesn't go mx tomorrow, I will be 100% on CPUs this year. Of course that's based on one flight yesterday and one flight tomorrow, but it does remind me of the good old days.

So far 2/10 for CPU routes as silver- have CPU'd SFO-SEA (last flight out sunday night on a 757) and LAS-SFO (sunday evening on a 319), though any other SFO-SEA/SEA-SFO flight I've been on outside of late sunday night has been somewhat elite-heavy with half the plane on the upgrade list

I was shocked to see that my rate is now 81% - better than I thought. 91% if you take out the January flight, which I expected to be traditionally bad. The difference this year is that for CPU eligible flights I am 13/16 (did a lot of international). Also 2.5 of my flights were paid first. I never have paid for first, but with PQD requirements and UA selling very cheap first class tickets, it was a no brainer for me to jump on it.

To OP and those people having issues with SFO-LAS/LAS-SFO, I have the answer for you.

The reason for a low CPU chance for SFO-LAS/LAS-SFO is the fare difference between F and Y cabin is not significant enough.

I saw more people are buying F tickets for SFO-LAS/LAS-SFO (based on the upgrade list - if your name is not there, you are paid F).

Like my experience last month, the only one I knew who got CPUed was a GS.

1/13 segments on UA metal this year as a silver. Was IAD-CMH on a Sunday night.

ETA: In fairness, probably 3-4 of thos segements were on non F equipped barbie jets.

This is a big factor.

I currently have a fare lock on WAS-SNA via SFO, in A, for $888. Cheapest Y for the same dates was $368. So a $520 premium for paid F both ways--I've been offered an upsell one-way for significantly more than that! (Just recently was offered $720 and $1120 on a SFO-IAD flight o/w, on a much higher base fare!) At least for me, I'm willing to pay an extra $500 r/t to guarantee F on long transcon flights.

When you factor in paid F (via UP/UPDI fares) on SFO-LAS are even smaller--on the order of TODs--you definitely get a lot of paid traffic.

I'm 25% CPU so far (all LAX/SFO or vice-versa) and 1 out of 6 for RPUs.

I am 3/4 CPU, 4/5 RPU, and 5/6 GPU. No flights out of my home base have FC, but I have had pretty good luck once I get to IAH, DEN, ORD or IAD. Most my RPU and GPUs are multi-segment, considering I have YTD 64 PQS.

My experience too. I check numerous flights on 320s, 738s, 752 where there are 2-3 CPUs and the rest are paid F.

I have a flight in 7 days and its booked 10/12 with paid F already. Chances of me getting a CPU are near zero and I'm on an H fare.

As an example, flight 1291 DEN-IAD today is a 753 and it has 3 CPU and 21 paid F.

I see $450 OW F fares from LAS to FL, so I can only assume there are other cheap F options.

The last two times I flew BOS-DEN I had an E (which was the lowest 1 way) which was more then a Z would have been. In one case, I had to change my flight to later in the day and there was no E available so it would have been about $500 for the fare difference and 200 change fee, and they could not confirm me in first with M. I told the agent to just throw away my $549 ticket and buy me a new z ticket for $518!

One-way BOS-DEN.

E-$549
M-$757
B-$898
Y-$1,397

Z (First) - $518
A (First) - $618

The result of this pricing is way-fewer CPUs and and almost no instant upgrades any longer (they have drastically reduced them). And the worst thing is when they offer me a $249 buy-up to first on an E fare when there are z class fares available !

It just isn't fair that 1Ks in coach could be spending twice as much on a ticket as people with no status buying first.

From your example, that's obviously the 1K's choice. That Z fare is available to everyone.

Yep but not necessarily approved by everyone's employer :-: @:-)

Missed CPUs this week on STL-ORD and ORD-SMF, W fares. On the express flight I was #4 on the list out of about 20 and on the mainline I was #9 of about 30. Upgrades were offered at $89 and $249 respectively. Briefly SDCd to an IAH connection with more favorable F loads but changed back when it went from F2 to F0 without R opening. There they offered F for $209.

4/7 for the year on CPU and 100% (about 12/12) on RPUs.

It can be vice versa as well - the 1K spent only 50% (no voucher involved) than most of the passengers in Y but traveling in F.

I'm also finding that RPUs work less often then they use to. I applied RPUs on my last three flights (either E or M class) and none of them worked. I also haven't had a single M fare upgraded in the last couple of months.

Something has definitely changed over the last couple of months.
