What did I pay for here?-Economy Plus Upgrades

I made this reservation last May, and I'm realizing there are a LOT of charges for upgrading to economy plus. What are they for?! There are 2 of us on 3 legs, so why are there 12 charges? At the time it seemed OK, or I didn't notice. TIA

Did you change seats at some stage? That can (incorrectly) re-trigger you being charged.

What did United say about the charges when you asked them?

Is it round trip, 3 legs each way, 2 persons? If you upgraded all 3 legs each way, that would be 12 upgrades charges.

yep -- each segment is charged separately and there is different charges for aisle, window and middle. This is where an annual subscription would have made a lot more sense (and saved money). And status saves a bundle.

3 Legs

It's EWR-GLA, then AMS-HOU, then HOU-DEN. OK, I recall the different seats being different prices, but still don't know why there are 12 charges. I didn't know about the club, either!

each segment is charged separately.
3 segments each way is 3 charges then 2 passengers mean 6 charges each way and RT means 12 charges. The separate charges allow for separate refunds if for some reason the service is not delivered.

Note you really should look at the annual subscript (plus companion option).

Wow! Yeah. Even a lowly Gold can get E+ at booking. An even lower Silver at least has good chance of grabbing E+ for free at T-24. Smisek should've definitely thanks OP during the last investor conference call.

roundtrip

This is roundtrip, we're starting in Denver with a Southwest flight. I just realized that some of those numbers a duplicates, so maybe I only paid once. $639 total.
