I recall premier check in, but no priority through security, which I think was done at the gate last time I was there (two summers ago).

The contract lounge at AMS stinks, btw.

Lounge improved...still not really good, to busy...horrible staff in general.
No security at the gates any more, central based after check-in with a gold line, works fine!

2 hours for premier acces checking in is fine....those lines go smooth in general, when you are in time problems, they let you first at check-in..friendly staff.

Miserable gate security setup there (turn left if you're a criminal being deported, turn right if you're a united passenger) with no premier line.

Very effective as a central hall, modern equipment, hardly lines. So after crossed that border, you walk in the plane after that just scanning your boarding pass.

The lounge has moved, is nicer, more choice, but still to crowded and not to much choice. Showers cost a lot extra. In have never used them since I always leave from there. It used to be a crazy walk for a while doing construction.

So yes Improved all, still need a good lounge, compare it with the old Red Carpet

+1, easy thru security especially in Biz class.

A friend who flew out of AMS on AA last week, non premier, non premium, describes the experience as above: quick and easy. Said she was through all checks, past security and at the gate within 30 minutes of arriving at the airport.

AMS to IAH Friday. Online check in?

Can we do t-24 OLCI for a flight out of AMS to IAH? And can we print a boarding pass ahead of time? We just have a carry on bag each so would prefer to go straight to the gate.
Are we required to check in at the ticket counter for any reason?

While you can get a BP online, AMS has new procedures for US carrier flights. They require going to a separate checkin point after security to answer the typical dumb questions, you won't be given your departure gate till then. The gate on the BP is just the gate you goto to go through the process.

This is done because there are no more gate holding pens. Security is considered acceptable by US and thus once past central security, the only remaining formality is the questions US carriers are required to ask.

Thank you for the reply. Are there any Premier lines at the various stops?

Can you get mobile boarding passes or must they be printed?

A friend recently flew from AMS to the states and said it took her about 45 minutes to get to her gate once she was dropped off out front. Sound about right?
We will be arriving around 0700 for a 1000 departure.

VNO-AMS-IAD on air baltic and then UA. does any know if 1hr 5min connecting time is enough? i can't find anywhere the arriving gates for air baltic (skyteam i believe), and in any case, not sure if it's considered a EU arrival or must go thru passport/security before proceeding to the UA gates in the D50+ area. any clues? thanks!

Seems very risky. Not sure about how they'll rate security at your initial airport, but they do have a close connection lane between Schengen and non-Schengen, which you'll hafta go through as well.

AMS Ops - Terminal D & G

Is there any logic to UA ops at AMS? On any given day you can depart/arrive from terminal D or G.
