Cancel notice on 717 BOS-LAX for today, but still shows on schedule?

Cancel notice on 717 BOS-LAX for today, but still shows on schedule?
I got a cancellation notice from UA saying 717 (BOS-LAX) for this evening is cancelled and to call to rebook. But, no one at UA seems to know anything about it, and the website flight shows on-time. In fact, the aircraft is on its way to BOS right now from SFO and is running a few minutes early. The reservations person with whom I spoke said the email update must have been sent in error. Does anyone have any insights? Based on past experience, is the update I received misinformation?

I got a call at 4:00AM stating my thursday flight SFO-LAX was canceled. 45 minutes later I got another call saying the flight is still scheduled. I have two emails stating the same generated at the same time the calls were. My flight is still scheduled now.
Maybe an LAX thing?
