I was unfortunately a witness from a Des Plaines rooftop while just starting the summer roofing season as a college aviation student. What an awful thing it was.

I just don't think it is possible!

Sitting here in NRT, my inbound is scheduled 97 minutes late, outbound continues to show on time. They have 53 minutes to deplane everyone - restock - board and get out of dodge. Maybe they have ejection seats on the 788 - otherwise I think I am being told a fib....

This episode is repeated at over 100x flights each day.....

Annoying, to be sure, but not rare at all.

I agree - not rare - but it is so obvious how can UA say "nope - you are on time - on time - on time - oh wait - delayed". And I never have understood why I know departure will be delayed, UA knows is, everyone knows it - so why don't they post the dealy earlier (in this case I may have made a case to get on the direct flight to IAH as opposed to going via LAX).
But, as an update, my outbound continued to show on time (impossible) until within 60 seconds of the inbound setting its brake at the gate (I can see it from the lounge) - then it came up delayed. I guess it is on time until the computer says it's late?

Legends told by UA Reservations Agents

Over the years I have been told a lot of interesting "facts" by reservation agents. The latest was that upgrade priority goes by how long you have held your current status. So I thought I would start a thread to collect some of the best legends FT'ers have heard ... I am sure there are some great ones!

If the computer won't price it, it means that it is not valid.

HNL CS told me she her passengers were told by (offshore) phone agents to get taxi vouchers at HNL for OGG or KOA when they missed their flight.
