Elite in eco

I'm having my first flight as an Elite in eco next month with TK (IST-SFO)

What can I expect?

Do they do seat blocking like other airlines?

No, don't expect anything for being a elite - you may be luck to get an op-up but don't count on it - block seat doesn't exist in TK's dictionary. You can get your usual priority boarding and luggage and of course lounge access.

Even as OW S back then I flew CX you don't get block seat when a flight is full.

I disagree. It might not be official perk but so far I have pretty good track record of having seat next to me empty, even when I am sitting on intra EU on coveted exit seat and plane is other ways pretty full. However this unofficial perk amounts to nothing because TK allows anyone to select whatever empty seat (within same class of travel) after doors close.

Are you sure you are talking about TK? The CPH-IST route is almost always full and if there is an empty seat it's because it's not taken. Happened to us once when we weren't elite members.

+1, I've never seen any particular recognition of status onboard, except a few op-ups.
You'll be able to enjoy the IST lounge however

If op-ups happen, you'll be on priority for them. And as other wrote - the usual priority check in desk, luggage, and lounge access. No other recognition as best I can tell.

TK fortunately still holds the old fashioned status first op-up policy.
Other than that don't expect anything more.

Haven't flown TK Economy in a while, but on my 4 recent Business Class flights I got addressed by name onboard which was very nice.

I fly TK Business Class long haul on a bi weekly basis for the last 8 years and i'm never addressed by my name.
The only times that this (sometimes) happens is when they hand out the menu cards.
As i only fly business class i never received upgrades or used the free yearly upgrades.
The only time i believe that i had some advantage of being E+ was the time they used the Jetstar B777 with the first class section.
I could book a seat in the first class section on a regular basis but normally only inbound to Istanbul.
But i can really say that there is no any recognition foe being a long time E+ member.

Back when I was E a rep came to look for me in the LAX lounge offering me to upgrade (for miles, not free unfortunately...) from A to J. I previously wanted to upgrade this flight with miles and J was all full, and the E gave me priority over a number of other passengers who wanted the same.

Fixed it for ya! Jetstar is an Australian low-cost airline (a subsidiary of Qantas), and I believe they do not have a 777-300ER with first-class suites!
