Upgrade and Questions about IAH-IST
Hi Everyone,
I'm flying tomorrow (7/23) from IAH-IST as part of an onward journey to Europe.
Can someone check with Expert Flyer check if there is availbility in business class and how much?
I'm looking to upgrade with money to business class.
My travel agent gave me a very discounted ticket (i think i paid about 1200) and turkish agents over the phone said they can't do anything to the ticket now and that the travel agent should handle it. The travel agent said they should handle it. What's your advice? Should I wait until the airport to upgrade? Should I proceed to the ticketing (not check in) counter?
Also, I'm willing to pay up to 1000 for an upgrade on the IAH-IST leg. Do you think the upgrade would be at or less than that?

Yes, if they offer upgrade at the airport, it will be a fix price from Y to C. You can buy it regardless of your original booking class. However using $ upgrade at the airport you only get the miles earn on the booking class you originally booked.

Could someone verify that even if I booked a deeply discounted travel agency rate, I would be eligible for the set airport upgrade cost?
Does anyone know what that cost is approximately?
Also can anyone check if there is availability in Business for tomorrow's flight IAH-IST (7/23)?

Plenty of seats
I cant copy and paste, but on flight 34 out of IAH there seems to be plenty of upgrade seats available on 7/23. That would be J class.
As the previous poster said you can upgrade regardless of your current booking class. I do not know the price.

That 750 wouldn't include an upgrade on the second leg to VCE, correct?
Also, can anyone confirm the availability that the agent stated in business?
Lastly, can someone please confirm that there IS a TK ticketing desk at IAH where I can process the upgrade? The phone agent said there is only one in Houston city and not the airport, but that doesn't seem correct.

So sorry for the late reply - I just returned from (a wonderful) vacation.
I WAS able to upgrade at IAH for the outbound IAH-IST segment.
The upgrade charge was apparently increased to $999.
Business class was very empty. I was in the second cabin and row five was completely empty. Row six had 5/7 seats taken and row seven had 3/7 seats taken. I didn't go up to the forward cabin but I know also that it wasn't nearly full.
I don't think anyone else upgraded.
Wonderful flight with an amazing crew - one crew member was especially great. Wish I had his name.
