You are comparing apples to oranges. Yes I've flown SQ J on the A380 and I do agree it's a better seat, but what is the price? Probably at least 2x that of TK! As other people have said the seat has nothing to do with your exasperation and all to do with the passenger sitting next to you. We all can empathize with this but I stand by my opinion that TK's seat is very comfortable even though not the best, it's good value for money. Not to mention free wifi on the 77W.

Why would you book with TK then? You said yourself that the SQ seat is better? I would absolutely love a GRU-BCN-SIN flight on SQ's business seat, now that would be heaven on a stick, I mean plane lol

On QR ex GRU you'll also have a seat neighbor.
TK' cheapest fare on GRU to BKK is $3.245++ r.t.
SQ's cheapest business ticket is $6.700++
I wouldn't call this a similar fare.

I have NEVER seen TK fares that cheap. They might exist in theory only.
@Wilko Pali Sedef : I do fly GRU-BCN-SIN a lot! I am a PPS Member, in fact.
But this time I was flying to CAI. SQ was clearly not a choice....
The choices were the EU carriers or TK/QR with TK being the fastest option,.

I have in fact flown SQ's new business class seat (as well as some reverse herringbone versions) and while it is good, I still prefer TK's. Their cabins are just so roomy and airy, something that I really appreciate! I'm quite tall and my experience is that SWISS, United, QR and so forth offers very limited space for your feet nowadays.
While I fully understand that many solo travellers prefer the privacy and direct isle access of some newer business class configurations, I would still rank TK as #1 since it doesn't at all feel claustrophobic and are superior when travelling with somebody else (which I almost always do). I like it for lounging and for sleeping.

Lets at least give the guy some credit for being able to get more than a 1st glass followed by a grudging second splash of wine out of the notoriously stingy TK Hosties...

I tell them "I speak ENGLISH from ENGLAND".
And then they avoid me for the rest of the flight.
And the Purser always says "They are shy because they can't speak English"

Because they can't speak English?!
I mean.... They really cannot. Usually the Chef has to take my order and all.
They tell me I have a pronounced accent. But I have a Southern England accent (aka RP English), so I am trying to guess what kind of English they actually do understand....?!
Maybe I should buy an "English for dummies" and just shout "CHAMPAGNE" , "CHICKEN" and "COFFEE".

Every one snores, big, fat, short and tall. Yes, you had an unfortunate experience, but that one experience does not make an airline bad. You could have gotten another loud snorer on SQ as well. So the solution is for you to fly in a private jet.

I don't think because they can't speak English.
If you use the same tone on board, talking to people as you do here, that will answer your question.
Your replies in this thread suggest that you flew TK often and always encountered the same problems. So why did you even bother and purchased yet another TK ticket?

The two seats being linked together made it even worse, because any sudden movement he would make, the whole seat shell would shake, including my seat.
I only brought up the non-English skills after someone else mentioned something else.
I do not fly TK a lot, but I fly them when the route and price are good enough.
Of course they have their good aspects, but this is a rant thread....

A320 J Class CAI-IST is a JOKE
I recently flew a TK A320 from CAI-IST in Paid J Class.
WHAT A JOKE.
The J Class seating is simply the dreaded "Slimline" Y Class, six across Seating, with the middle seats blocked. The seats have perhaps a 32 Inch Pitch and are 17 Inches wide. Frankly, UA Economy Plus Seats give you more room than these TK so called "J" Seats.
They also did not offer individual IFE screens (i.e. one movie overhead).
TK should really be more transparent about this as there is no comfort on these Intercontinental Flights.
Since they block the middle seats and there is no way of monetizing additional revenue from those blocked seats, how much would it cost TK to refurbish the J Section with at least wider seats ?
