Yes, we opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq but are in the Anti-ISIS coalition of countries.

NZ passport is obscure enough to be reasonably low-profile but still easy to get visa's with.

While I usually avoid Mexican and Tex-Mex outside of the Americas - often finding it to be botched to a comical degree - I must say that those fajitas look fantastic.

Yes, the fajita's were a great way to finish for the trip. The last time I had them was at Lebanese restaurant in Dakar so was reasonably confident they wouldn't be too bad.

Many thanks, HawaiiTrvlr. Just sussing out the next trip now. Trying to decide whether to jump of an aeroplane or fire off a few rounds with a M-16.

Another wonderful TR, DanielW. I studied Latin for 7 years but I had no idea that the world's tallest Roman pillars are in Baalbek...

Thank you, JohnRain. Yes, was amazing to see that they are in the middle east.

There are taller single roman monumental columns, but in terms of pillars in a structure, they are the tallest:

Thank you, bowdenj. Hopefully not too long until the next trip now.

Many thanks, exilencfc. Yes, definitely worth a few days to see the 'the Paris of the Middle East' and some of the rest of the country. Maybe pop over when you visit Cyprus?

Excellent report and photos. Love it.

Better than yet another photo of an elite airline's first class menu, food and fancy hotel room.

Wow.

Why is it that the US State Department has travel warnings for such cool places in the world I loved this TR and all that was in it!

Thanks, pk45cu. Last time I flew long haul J was back in 2009, so I would probably be tempted to take way too many photo's if I did it again.

Why not? LCA-BEY is only 129 miles, shorter than LHR-MAN.

Many thanks, thetravelingRedhead.

The UK foreign office advice is pretty cautious too, with Baalbek and Tripoli being in the 'red zone' (no go). Beirut is (mostly) green though, so should be relatively fine to visit.
