Thank you. The service was indeed amazing. It is very close to F except for the crew to pax ratio.

Ttoekpoekki on a plane..... ^

....simply awesome.....
I've always been bummed that OZ and KE don't ever offer it as a snack like they do ramyeon....

Did they really put ham in it, or was it odang (fishcake)?

Yum. Just..... yum.
Yes, tteokboekki on the plane but it was damned spicy hot. It was delicious, however. On a second thought, I do believe you are correct that those slices of protein were indeed fishcake rather than ham. I did found them a bit chewier than a regular ham.

The service was definitely similar to the F service of other airlines. Food was amazing and nicely presented as well. The availability of the cuisine manager onboard really makes a difference, I believe.

Thank you for your compliment. Garuda's business class treatment is indeed very similar to other airlines' First Class.

Confirmed that it was indeed a regional J. The food was indeed incredible and delicious.

Only in ramekin not warm. Maybe this is why it wasn't F yet.

Due to its limited International network, there isn't a lot of GA TRs. I did write the first F TR on GA here. Indeed, I experienced a very high level of service on GA.

I have never tried a new J on BR yet so I can't comment. However, the service on GA is indeed top notch.

All joking aside, great report!
Seriously? Maybe next time I would order the nachos just for the fun of it. Be warned that Garuda does serve its nachos in a white deep bowl accompanied with 2 smaller saucers each containing tomato salsa and cheese dipping sauce.

More people should consider flying GA when they're traveling to Indonesia as this is not your parents (or grandparents) Garuda anymore, but is truly a world-class airline. I hope more trip reports like this will be written so that more frequent travelers will be able to know Garuda a little better .
Indeed, Garuda has transformed itself to a totally different airline. The service provided by GA cabin crew makes the service provided by SQ, CX and NH seemed so robotic. Same can be said about the food as well. SQ and CX food presentation are now just too bland and too unappetizing compared to the one served by Garuda. Everything with Garuda now has the WOW factor and I believe Garuda is really bringing back the romance of flying.

Unfortunately, due to its past reputation, a lot of people still laugh whenever they hear of Garuda. Garuda is until now still very much under-rated. People who continue to avoid Garuda do not know what they are missing.

Great trip report, UMD!

I recently flew GA for the first time, and despite being in Y, really enjoyed both flights. FAs were very friendly on the hour long flights to/from DPS and the food was also pretty tasty.

Got a glimpse at their F/J products as we deboarded and they look great.. Hope to experience them in the future!

Your report confirms all the previous positive reviews that I have read about GA - one of the few bright stars in Skyteam. I hope they will reintroduce service to the U.S. in the future.

Thanks for sharing. ^

Excellent trip report, thanks for sharing.

They had immigration officers on board? Wow. Where do the officers sit during the flight?

Great TR!

Have only experienced Garuda in Y, very good experience every time I flew with them.
Would love to try their J or even better F product one day!

Looks amazing! I need to try the J service. I wonder if CGK-ICN that leaves at 11 PM would have a full meal service though.

I had the pleasure of flying SIN - DPS - SIN last year and was very pleasantly surprised by the offering. We were in J on one leg and Y on the other (both single aisle aircrafts) and found the aircraft to be bright and clean, food and service to be outstanding and came away with the general impression that we would enjoy flying GA again.

Thank you for the wonderful TR.

So they cleared immigration in-flight? What happens when you get into the terminal? You are escorted to skip the immigration counters?

Exactly. Garuda does this for all passengers (not just those in First and Business Class) for its long-haul flights (e.g., CGK-AMS, CGK-SYD, and CGK-NRT). It claims to be the only full-service airline in the world which does this.

I think it also does on-board immigration clearance in its short-haul flights as well (e.g., CGK-SIN, CGK-HKG, etc) but just for Business Class passengers.
