What is your 'common sense' when travelling aboard?
Inspired by the 'airport scams' below, question came about 'common sense' when travelling to other, unfamiliar countries. I can list number those 'senses' which most of people would agree:
- do not attract attention
- do not walk at night in unfamiliar places which you have not checked/researched
- do not show off your cash/wealth
- do not leave your belongings unattended even a second
- do not have all your cash/cards in one place (like wallet)
- do not get drunk and pass out in public
- do not trust strangers who claim to know you and are very friendly
- do not pick up fight with locals
- do not leave your stuff in car visible
- do lock you car even when you need to get our and walk 10m
My question is - what is your 'common sense' cases?

- don't leave your hotel key card in the sleeve, which has the hotel's name and probably your room number written on it

Three very basic rules to follow to avoid trouble:
1. Don't be high/intoxicated in public.
2. Don't try to buy drugs.
3. Don't try to buy sex.

Keep your passport and cards with you. Everything else can be bought there. Don't miss the flight because you're looking for your misplaced sock.

Don't act stroppy with immigration/customs staff, they are just doing their job. Answer all questions directly and don't volunteer additional information. Be confident and business like in your approach.

I've worked in a particular industry where I learnt that there is no such thing as common sense. It's amazing what some folks would do.
