Does anyone know of any good deals starting a rtw in Japan? Both the *A and 1W seemed awfully high. Apparently, the CX/UA fare is not offered at all.

Hop over to Korea (flight duraion shorter than some of your domestic routes) then buy a OW Explorer. Don't know the precise prices, but they're obviously a lot cheaper than Japan!

Check the OW forum for the prices...

Agreed, Japan is one of the world's most expensive origination points, while Korea is one of the cheapest.
