Traveling with business samples to Mexico
Hello,
My wife and I are US citizens and are moving to Mexico. We will have Temporary Resident Visas for Mexico. She is an independent sales representative for jewelry/accessory designers in the US. She will be traveling back to the US 6-10 times a year with a suitcase full of jewelry and leather handbags. Total value of the contents is about $50,000 retail.
Coming back to Mexico, is she gets the red light and they want to search her luggage, is it possible to have the screening done in a private room?
Does anybody have experience carrying (and declaring) samples through customs both in the US and Mexico?
Thanks in advance for any input

Call your local CBP office about a carnet. All your samples have to be present in the carnet. Once you have one you can travel the world with the samples without fear of being charged duty. If you change one item you need a new carnet. Of course, this will be explained to you when you get the carnet. I believe it is good for a year or two. hope this helps.
