Truely shocking behavior - a status flyer wanting to be downgraded!
Sitting in the lounge at Prague, waiting for my BA flight to London and overheard a chap (American) calling his airline to complain.
Apparently he had previously asked to be taken OFF the upgrade list, but now they'd put him in Business class and his wife in economy. He wanted to be downgraded to sit in Y!
I was very tempted to inform him that this is not normal behaviour for someone of his status and he should have either tried to get an upgrade for the other half or post on here about having her join him for dinner.
I'm not sure why some people still don't get it...

What is normal for one person, may be completely abnormal for another... I have personally had to deal with a lot of similar cases where a couple travelling together get separated because one who has status gets upgraded and the other without status doesn't but the upgraded person isn't happy with the upgrade and request to be put back on their original seat.
But this never happens if pax are booked on one PNR. Separating people on one booking would be asking for trouble!

This thread has been moved to the TravelBuzz forum from the BA forum as it is not known which airline the man in question was flying but it appears not on BA, and it is also a general discussion rather than being specific to one airline.
